Key Functions:
The Institutions’ Innovation Council (IIC) under the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC) primarily functions to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within higher education institutions (HEIs).
• Promoting Innovation: IICs actively encourage students and faculty to explore new ideas and develop them into prototypes.
• Organizing Activities: They conduct various innovation and entrepreneurship-related events, such as hackathons, idea competitions, and workshops, often involving external experts like investors and mentors.
• Identifying and Rewarding Innovation: IICs recognize and celebrate outstanding innovations and share success stories to inspire others.
• Building Networks: They connect with other IICs, entrepreneurship development organizations, and potential investors to create a strong support system.
• Creating an Innovation Portal: IICs maintain an online platform to showcase innovative projects developed by their institution’s students and faculty.
• Mentoring and Incubation Support: They provide guidance and support to student innovators, including mentorship and access to incubation centers.
• Obtaining Funding: IICs may seek grants and funding from government and non-government sources to support their activities.

2. Pre-Incubation & Startup Support
- Support for prototype development and business model creation.
3. Access to Laboratories & Equipment
- Permission to use institution labs for project development.
4. Mentorship & Expert Interaction
- Regular sessions with industry experts, entrepreneurs, innovators, and alumni.
- One-to-one mentoring for project refinement and startup creation.
5. Training & Capacity Building
- Workshops on design thinking, idea validation, innovation management.
- Hands-on training in emerging technologies (AI, IoT, Robotics, EV, etc.).
- Entrepreneurship development programs and bootcamps.
6. Funding & Grant Support
- Guidance for applying to national & institutional funding schemes.
- Support for:
- Prototype funding
- Startup seed funding
- MIC–IIC innovation contests
- State/National innovation challenges
7. IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) Support
- Facilities for patent awareness.
- Sessions with IPR experts, legal advisors.
8. Startup Ecosystem Linkages
- Collaboration with incubators, accelerators, industry partners, government agencies.
- Support for projects.
9. Networking & Collaboration Opportunities
- Participation in Smart India Hackathon, National Innovation Contest, Toycathon, YUKTI, etc.
- Opportunities to collaborate with startups and innovators.
10. Showcasing Opportunities
- Project exhibitions, innovation fairs, demo days, and startup showcases.
- Support to present ideas at regional and national competitions.
11. Documentation & Guidance Support
- Assistance with preparing pitch decks, business plans, project reports.

Responsibility:
- Conduct Council Meeting in accordance with prescribed rules.
- He will call the meetings, set meeting agenda and will monitor the deliverable.
- He will coordinate with MIC and responsible for all the IIC activities in the institute.
- He will ensure Institution’s participation in IIC calendar activity and take lead in the institution driven activities (own initiatives).
- He will ensure the effective implementation of IIC activities with the help of Convenor.
- He could change the council members as per the decision taken in council meetings and update the information on portal.
- He/ She will be responsible for submitting the monthly progress/activity reports on the IIC portal.
Vice President: Prof. (Dr.) Shila Ghosh, Principal
Responsibility: Give advice to council regarding activities and help President.
Convenor: Mr. Arup Das, Assistant Professor, EE
Responsibility:
- The Convenor will work in close coordination with IIC president and will provide help wherever required for smooth conduction of activities.
- He will ensure the participation in the meeting and will prepare the meeting agenda at least 10 days prior to meeting with the inputs from all valuable council members and President.
- He will ensure that the internal examination dates would not interfere with the IIC activities and coordinate with all departments to ensure the same.
- He will collect the inputs from all the members of the council at regular interval, especially external members for better planning of IIC activities and effective delivery of results.
