R & D Cell

Functionality of The Cell
  • Motivate and encourage faculty members and students to initiate and continue research through good quality publications and product developments.
  • Create awareness to preserve the code of ethics during publishing or product development.
  • Encourage sponsored research activities supported by potential funding from various agencies, such as AICTE, DST, CSIR, UGC, etc., in the departments.
  • Encourage regular organization of workshops/seminars/conferences and technical events such as project/paper/poster etc., competitions in the college to keep faculty members and students updated in current research areas and technologies.
  • Promote and encourage inter-disciplinary research activities in the college and joint research with other reputed institutions.
  • Create awareness on IPR and filing of Patents.
  • Promote development of specialized laboratories in the departments in order to cater to evolving needs of industry as well as society and co-ordinate utilization of specialized laboratories of other reputed institutes for the college faculty.
  • Support in-house faculty development programs (FDPs).
  • Facilitate sharing of literature/publications/information among faculty members and students, which will be useful for their research activities.
  • Facilitate coordination with external bodies/members and internal committees,such as IIIC, EDC, PMC, etc. for advancement of research and development in the college.
  • Maintain records of internal publications,patents, and other R&D achievementsat the Department level and Institute level in each academic year and any other work related to R&D as may be required from time to time.
  • Encourage final year and postgraduate students to take up research-based projects aligned with current technological challenges.

Role: Advisory Member

Responsibilities

  • Suggest necessary measures for advancements of research and development activities in the college in accordance with the Functions of the cell.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance in order to motivate faculty members towards increased interest in research activities.
  • Guide in outlining methods to improve the quality of research and aid inter- disciplinary research and developmental activities.
  • Facilitate coordination with external members/bodies.

Role: Coordinator

Responsibilities

  • Arrange monthly meetings for summarizing plan of action, as suggested by all departments.
  • Summarize the research and development information centrally for each academic year and prepare annual report of the cell.
  • Coordinate with the college authority regarding activities of the cell and make the members aware of the policy matters.
  • Coordinate between the departments of the college and encourage inter-disciplinary research activities.
  • Coordinate with professional societies to organize events and arrange sponsorships for awareness and learning about different emerging domains.
  • Coordinate funded project proposals from the departments for possible funding in consultation with all members of the cell as well as the advisory member.
  • Maintaining communication with faculty, management, and external bodies.
  • Consult with external bodies/members and various internal committees in order to advance research and development in the college.

Role: Faculty members

Responsibilities

  • Encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration across departments.
  • Act as a single point of contact between other members of the department and the cell to make them aware of the activities of the cell.
  • Inform the HODs of the respective department on policy matters for following the suggested plan of action and recommendations by the cell.
  • Encourage other departmental faculty members to initiate and continue research through good quality publications, sponsored research projects from UGC, AICTE, DST, CSIR, etc., and product developments.
  • Identifying and encouraging research potential among departmental students
  • Encourage other faculty members and students to become members of various professional societies.
  • Supporting the coordinator in organizing events such as seminars, workshops, Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs) and other events and activities as advised by the AICTE and other statutory bodies in the college.
  • Summarize information on research and development at the department level for each academic year.
  • Encourage other faculty members and students of the department in attending workshops/seminars/conferences outside the college.
  • The member from the BSHU department specifically monitors research engagement among first-year students and coordinates basic research skill-building initiatives at the foundational level.
  • Compiling and verifying data related to publications, project work, and other departmental research outcomes.
