Mentoring Cell

Functionality of The Cell
  • To counsel the students on the teaching-learning activities.
  • To advise the students on their career paths.
  • To help the students take up various co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
  • To listen to the problems that the students face in academic and personal fronts and advise them as required.
  • To help the students with their Mandatory Additional Requirement (MAR) activities.
  • To report the mentoring details of each student to the college and the university.
  • Discrepancies such as disciplinary issues, health issues, sense of insecurity, lack of attendance etc are also discussed and counseled with care by the mentor.
  •  If the mentor unable to resolve the problem, HODs examine the problem and provide the suggestion to correct the problem.

Coordinator

To coordinate between members of the cell, mentors and management regarding problems that the students may be facing. Arrange cell meetings to discuss the mentoring matters and communicate the changed rules and regulations from time to time.

Cell  Members

To coordinate between coordinator, students and mentors of the respective departments. Member from BSHU department looks after the mentoring of first year students of all the departments.

Roles of Mentors

  • Mentors will play an important role in helping slow learner students to cope with academic, extra-academic and personal problems.
  • Mentors will help the students to understand the challenges and opportunities present in the college.
  • Mentor will communicate with HoD or with subsequent higher authorities if certain serious discrepancies arises for a particular student such as disciplinary issues, health issues, sense of insecurity, lack of attendance
  • If mentor finds that a student is suffering from problem related to Psycho-socio nature then mentor may direct the student to college Counselor
  • Mentor will have the responsibility to submit the MAR (mandatory Additional Requirement) points to the University portal

Roles of Mentees

  • Mentees will submit the MAR form with filling up achievements or anything that requires a certificate, to respective mentor along with attached proof.
  • To observe common courtesies before the mentor – attending mentee meeting as called by the mentor, informing the mentor in case unable to make it for the meeting and to come prepared with an agenda.
  • To be committed to self- development and be open and honest on goals, expectations, challenges and concerns.
  • Synthesize lessons learned from mentors and try to develop both academically and in extracurricular and co-curricular activities.
