Functionality of The Cell

1. Organizing Sports Events:

  • Conduct annual sports meets, inter-departmental tournaments, and college-level competitions.
  • Coordinate participation in university, state, and national-level events.

2. Scheduling and Planning:

  • Prepare and maintain a calendar of sports activities throughout the academic year.
  • Ensure proper time management and venue booking for different sports activities.

3. Maintenance of Facilities:

  • Oversee maintenance and upgradation of playgrounds, gymnasiums, and sports equipment.
  • Ensure safe and adequate infrastructure for both indoor and outdoor games.

4. Team Selection and Training:

  • Organize trials and practice sessions for various sports teams.
  • Appoint coaches/trainers and arrange regular training programs.

5. Talent Identification and Encouragement:

  • Identify talented athletes and encourage them to pursue sports actively.
  • Nominate deserving students for sports scholarships and awards.

6. Record Keeping and Reporting:

  • Maintain records of student participation and achievements in sports.
  • Submit reports to higher authorities for documentation and recognition.

7. Vision & Policy Implementation:

  • Develop and implement policies related to sports ethics, gender equity in sports, and anti-doping awareness.

1. Roles and Responsibilities of Chairperson:

  • To provide vision and direction for promoting sports culture within the institution.
  • To approve policies, annual plans, and budgets related to sports infrastructure and activities.
  • To ensure alignment of sports activities with the institution’s mission and student development goals.

2. Roles and Responsibilities of Faculty Coordinator:

  • To prepare the annual calendar of sports activities (intra/inter-college, university-level).
  • To oversee the selection of student teams and ensure fair trial processes.
  • To organize sports events, tournaments, and selection trials in coordination with committee members.
  • To prepare the annual sports budget proposal.
  • To monitor procurement and usage of sports equipment, kits, and related logistics.
  • To maintain records of participation, achievements, equipment inventory, and event reports.
  • To submit regular updates and annual reports to the Director/Principal.
  • To act as a bridge between students, faculty members, coaches, and the administration.
  • To guide student representatives and subcommittees for smooth event conduct.
  • To perform any other duty assigned by the Director/Principal.

3. Roles and Responsibilities of Faculty Member:

  • To assist in planning and conducting intra-college and inter-college sports events.
  • To help manage fixtures, match schedules, result tracking, and event coordination.
  • To maintain discipline and ensure proper conduct of students during events and practice sessions.
  • To serve as faculty in-charge for specific sports.
  • To motivate and mentor students for further training and competitive participation.
  • To provide support in allocation, distribution, and supervision of sports equipment.
  • To encourage students from their respective departments to actively participate in sports.
  • To take part in periodic committee meetings to plan, evaluate, and improve the sports environment actively.
  • To share department-level updates and suggest improvements.

4. Roles and Responsibilities of Student Member:

  • To promote sports events, training sessions, and activities among peers actively.
  • To share event notices through social media, class groups, and notice boards.
  • To represent their department/year in events and act as a liaison between students and the Sports & Games Cell.
  • To maintain discipline during sports activities, both on and off the field.
  • To promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and fair play.
  • To assist in issuing and returning sports equipment as per schedule or practice needs.

5. Roles and Responsibilities of Administrative/Support Staff:

  • To assist in delivering official messages/notices related to games and sports activities to various departments or notice boards.
  • To maintain inventory of all sports equipment and supplies.
  • To issue and collect equipment before and after practice or events.
  • To report any damage or shortage to the Faculty Coordinator.
  • To ensure cleanliness and readiness of sports grounds, courts, and indoor facilities.
  • To assist in minor repairs of sports infrastructure and inform higher authorities about major maintenance needs.
  • To assist in setting up sports venues, arranging furniture, banners, water, and first aid during events.
  • To help and manage crowd control, movement of participants, and smooth conduct of tournaments.
