Canteen/House-Keeping/Hygiene/Sanitation Cell

Functionality of The Cell

Canteen

  • The cell should ensure a healthy and safe work environment for the canteen staffs and housekeeping staffs.
  • Canteen cell should monitor the hygiene and quality of food served in the canteen.
  • The cell should ensure smooth and proper functioning of the canteen and housekeeping on daily basis.
  • The cell should decide the menu and items to be sold in the canteen.
  • The cell should take referendum regarding mess food, service, prices of items in canteen.
  • The cell should make every effort to make sure that wastage of food is reduced to a minimum.
  • The cell should see to it that the Canteen Caterer and housekeeping in-charge takes appropriate and prompt actions on the complaints by inmates.

House-Keeping/Hygiene/Sanitation

1.    The cell should ensure excellence in housekeeping sanitation, safety and aesthetics of the college premises.

2.    To take responsibility in movement like “The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”on college campus.

3.    To take responsibility to clean the campuses/ premises before commencement of class after a long vacation.

4.    To circulate leaflets among the students for awareness generation about vector control measures in the premises of educational institution.

General

1.    To maintain the liaison regarding information of personal hygiene, sanitation facilities, consumer product safety, food quality & handling and canteen   between the college authority, canteen and NSS cell.

2.    To sensitize / engage NSS volunteers in awareness programme.

3. The cell should ensure the following tasks to be done by cleaning staff:

  • Keeping the work areas, storage areas and common areas free of trash.
  • Sweeping the floors regularly and cleaning it with disinfectants as and when necessary Dusting the furniture in the office, classrooms and laboratories.
  • Cleaning the glass surfaces on regular basis.Sanitizing the toilets by cleaning and disinfecting regularly. 
  • Keeping the walls free of cobwebs. 
  • See that the floors are not slippery during rainy season.
  • Storing flammable liquids in sealed and spill-proof containers away from ignition sources

Role of the Coordinator

  • Ensure all necessary tasks for day to day running of the personal hygiene, sanitation facilities, consumer product safety, food handling activities of the college as well as canteen are carried out.
  • Chair Committee Meetings ensuring that they are run efficiently and effectively.
  • Act as a signatory for the committee in all purposes.
  • Serve as a spokesperson for the committee when required.
  • Represent the committee and the college in matters involving the relevant Association.
  • Ensure transparency in the related activities

Role of the Faculty Member

  • Maintain records of the Committee and ensure effective management of committee’s records.
  • Maintain the committee membership list each year.
  • Formulate and update the yearly activities under the observation of co-ordinator of the committee.
  • Communicate with respective Head of the Department regarding the activities of the cell.
  • Report all the related activities to the coordinator of the committee.
  • To maintain liaison among coordinator, department head, NSS cell, General Maintenance cell (office) etc.

Role of the Students Member:

  • Collection of information relevant to this cell.

Role of Canteen Manager

  • Healthy and hygienic ambiance of canteen.
  • Quality and reasonable Price of food
