- Receive and Redress Complaints:
• Receive written complaints of sexual harassment from any woman (student, faculty, staff, visitor) at the institution.
• Conduct fair, timely, and confidential inquiries into complaints.
• Submit findings and recommend appropriate action to the Head of the Institution. - Ensure Confidentiality and Fairness:
• Maintain strict confidentiality of the complaint, complainant, and proceedings.
• Ensure that both the complainant and respondent are treated fairly and without bias or victimization. - Preventive Measures:
• Proactively create awareness among all employees and students regarding: (a) What constitutes sexual harassment, (b) Rights of women under the law, (c) How to report incidents.
• Display notices and posters in visible areas on campus about zero tolerance for sexual harassment. - Conduct Awareness Programs:
• Organize gender sensitization workshops, POSH Act training, and interactive sessions for students, staff, and faculty.
• Encourage a safe and respectful environment for women in the workplace / classroom. - Submit Annual Reports:
• Submit an annual report to the university authority or other competent body (e.g., UGC/AICTE) are required under law. - Ensure Safe Working Environment:
• Recommend structural and procedural changes to make the campus safe and inclusive. - Advisory Role:
• Advise the institution on policy formation regarding harassment prevention.
• Assist in integrating gender equality principles into institutional culture.
Presiding officer
• Lead the functioning of the ICC and Provide strategic direction for addressing grievances and fostering a respectful work environment.
• Officially receive complaints submitted by faculty or staff and ensure complaints are acknowledged promptly and confidentially.
• Schedule promptly to discuss and deliberate on received grievances and ensure both the complainant and the respondent are given an equal opportunity to present their side.
• Guide the committee in arriving at a fair and just resolution.
• Sign off on the committee’s recommendations or report to higher authorities (e.g., Director, Governing Body, Academic Council etc.) if needed.
• Ensure all grievance redressal procedures are in line with AICTE/UGC/state guidelines.
• Recommend updates to the grievance policy if procedural gaps are identified.
• Monitor the implementation of resolutions or corrective actions suggested by the ICC.

• Receive grievance applications submitted by faculty or staff and verify their completeness.
• Maintain a grievance register or digital log of all complaints received, including date, nature of grievance, and current status.
• Act as the primary point of contact between the complainant, respondent, Chairperson, and committee members.
• Inform all involved parties of meeting schedules, proceedings, and outcomes as directed by the Chairperson.
• Ensure all records are properly archived for reference and compliance purposes.
• Assist the Chairperson and committee in interpreting relevant rules, service conditions, or institutional codes of conduct.
